Experience a close encounter with the gentle giants of the ocean by joining us on an informative and educational whale watching trip. We are licensed to approach the whales up to 50m, and then they decide whether to come closer. Being naturally curious, they usually come right up to the boat.
Our purpose-built catamaran complies with all safety regulations and its configuration provides spectacular viewing and comfort. With a registered skipper and whale specialist as your guide, including an interpreter guide offering translations in Dutch, German and many other European languages, you are sure to have a unique experience at sea.
All guests meet at our booking office in the New Harbour in Hermanus, 30 minutes prior to departure. After signing in and perusing the local craft and curios, they take a seat next to our 16m whale model ‘Bakithemba.’ Here is where our whale specialist briefs the guests on safety and the tour, what they can expect, plus some interesting whale information.
We then embark from our ‘private floating jetty,’ built to enable our guests to embark and disembark safely and with ease. Once seated we depart from the Harbour in search of whales and other marine creatures along the way. Our permit entitles us to approach the whales up to 50m, and then we stop and the decision is left entirely to the whales. Being curious they normally approach the boat and often come right up to us.
On return to land the guests are invited to take a seat and preview the DVD footage of their trip, as our videographer joins each trip to make sure the guests don’t miss any photo opportunities. The DVD is available for purchase and contains some of the best footage, photos taken, a scenic tour of Hermanus and surrounding areas, plus the guest’s personal whale watching trip. There are coffee and tea facilities available if our guests want to chat and relax after their whale trip.
